A Celebration of Winter's EndThe Living History Society of Minnesota cordially invites one and all toA Celebration of Winter's EndFebruary 17, 18, 19, 2012 * Saint Paul, MinnesotaThe Living History Society of Minnesota wishes to invite you to a Celebration of Winter . a weekend of revelry and jollification, celebrating the inauguration of 1861, taking place February 17th, 18th and 19th, 2012 in Saint Paul. We hope you will join us in this historical celebration! Schedule of EventsFriday, February 17: Evening of Entertainments. The weekend begins on Friday with an Evening of Entertainments at the Triune Masonic Lodge. The festivities begin at 7 pm, featuring period table games, parlor games, cards and entertainments. The evening will feature a performance of a home theatrical dedicated to the ikkustrious history of our nation.s presidents. Light refreshlents will be served. Attire of the mid 19th century is requested and admired, but not required.Saturday, February 18: Dance Workshop. Saturday will begin with a Dance Workshop from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon, wherein all manner of mid 19th century dances will be taught, including waltzes, polkas, schottisches, reels and quadrilles. Lunch will be served, and a lesson on ballroom etiquette provided. Comfortable modern attire is appropriate. Dancers of all levels and abilities are encouraged to attend, and dance partners are not required. Afterwards, the hall will close in preparation for the Inauguration Ball. Saturday, February 18: Inaugral Ball. The doors to the Lodge will open at half past six o.clock with dressing rooms for ladies and gentlelen wishing to make use of them. The doors to the historic, candlelit Ballroom will open at half past seven o.clock, and the Grand March will begin promptly at eight o.clock. The evening celebration will include a formal dinner featuring all the latest epicurean delights, and we will dance until the wee hours to the strains of live music provided by The Camptown Ladies, to celebrate Lincoln.s victorious election and inauguration. Period evening attire of the mid 19th century is respectfully required. In accordance with custom, admission to the ball is limited to those aged fourteen and older. Sunday, February 19: At-Home Social. Sunday will conclude with an At-Home Social at a private home in the local vicinity. Games and Conversation will be the order of the day, with Skating and Coasting at a nearby park (weather permitting). Period Clothing, Ice-Skates and Toboggans are requested and admired, but not required. This event is free to all attendees. Lunch and refreshments will be served. More information about the location of this event will be available at the ball.
