Schedule of EventsFriday, February 11: Parlor Games at the Pestel Residence, Roseville, MN. *Event and location change for Friday evening*.Mrs. Pestel will host an at-home, including parlor games of the 1860s. The event will start at 7:00pm. Please bring some food to share (hors d'oeuvres, dessert, or beverage). For those particularly adventurous attendees, nighttime coasting and/or skating excursions will be available. Please bring modern or period skates and toboggans if you wish to participate (rental equipment will not be available). Enjoy the witty conversation of other Society members and work to avoid an embarrassing forfeit redemption. Period attire is admired, but not required. There is no admission fee. Please contact secretary@lhsmn.org if you need directions to the Pestel residence. Saturday, February 12: Dance workshops will be conducted at the Triune Masonic Lodge from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Beginning and intermediate instruction in the waltz, polka, schottishe, redowa, reels and quadrilles will be offered. Comfortable modern clothing is preferred. Lunch will be served. Period vendors open doors at 2:00 pm. The Inaugural Ball of 1865 will be held in the evening. Doors to the beautifully restored candlelit ballroom will open at 7:30pm. The Grand March will begin promptly at 8:00 pm. For Ladies wishing to dress at the Lodge, the dressing rooms will be open at 6:00pm. Live music will enhance what is sure to be a memorable evening. An elegant late-night supper will be served and dancing will continue into the wee hours of the morning. Children 14 years and older are welcome to participate. Period attire is respectfully required for this event. Sunday, February 13: Explore the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul and attend a period wedding. (Free to those in period clothing, admission for those in modern clothing: $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, $4 for children.) Coasting is planned on a hill near the Minnesota History Center, so bring your toboggans. Modern clothing is acceptable; period clothing preferred (and required for free admission to the Minnesota History Center). Coasting begins at 12:00 noon with the wedding event scheduled from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The coasting hill will also be available after the wedding.
RegistrationFor more information or to have a copy of the Registration Form mailed on paper, contact arachnid@lhsmn.orgSpace is limited; pre-registration is required! There will be no tickets sold at the door for the Ball on Saturday. Tickets for the Theatrical on Friday will be available at the door. The registration deadline is February 1, 2005. After that date, please contact arachnid@lhsmn.org to inquire about ticket availability. Maps and additional details will be mailed with tickets. Please see ticket information below.
