Prize

One set of Minnesota in the Civil and Indian Wars 2nd Edition (1891). which can be found in rare bookstores for around $250.

Eligibility

Any current member of the Living History Society of Minnesota or any current member of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry 1861-1864 is eligible except for board members of the Living History Society of Minnesota who shall be the judges.

Requirements

Submit One copy of an original research paper on your choice of civilian topics relate to Minnesota from 1849-1865. Papers are to be not less than 1,500 words nor longer than 3,500 words and are to give proper attribution. There are roughly 250 words per 12-point double-spaced typed pages with one-inch margins.

Deadline

All entries received by 7:30pm on or before the regular April 1st, 2003, meeting of the Living History Society of Minnesota will be considered.

Announcement of Winner

The board of the Living History Society of Minnesota will make an announcement of the winner at its regular May 6th, 2003, meeting.
