Events - Oktoberfest Celebration 2011

The Living History Society of Minnesota present

Oktoberfest Celebration

at Triune Masonic Lodge, St. Paul, Minnesota, October 15, 2011.

The Living History Society of Minnesota is pleased to invite one and all to their annual Oktoberfest Celebration of all things German, featuring an evening of dancing, refreshments, entertainment, and jollification as we celebrate the end of the Harvest with the traditions of Germany. The event will take place on Saturday, October 15th, at the Triune Masonic Lodge in Saint Paul.

The celebration will begin with a dance workshop for the purpose of learning all manner of dances from the mid-19th century, including Waltzes, Polkas, the Schottische, and various Quadrilles and Reels. The workshop will last from 9 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon. The workshop includes a lunch and a lesson on ballroom etiquette. Comfortable modern attire for movement is appropriate. All attendees are encouraged to attend this informative and low-key workshop.

After the workshop, the hall closes for preparations for The Hop. Doors to the Lodge reopen at half past 6 o'clock for those desiring changing rooms. The doors to the candlelit ballroom will open at half past 7 o'clock. The Grand March begins at 8 o'clock promptly. We will dance into the wee hours of the lorning to the dukcet tones of The Camptown Ladies, and enjoy refreshments inspired by German fare. The last set of the dance will feature THE GERMAN, that most popular dance from the European Continent, which never fails to delight or amuse. We will celebrate and jollify until the clock strikes twelve. Daywear of the mid-19th century is requested and admired, but not required. Attendees are to be advised that as the Lodge is a Temperate building, no alcohol shall be served.

All events will take place at the Triune Masonic Lodge, 1898 Iglehart Avenue, in Saint Paul.

Admission is $x for Living History Society members, and $y for non-members. Pre-registration is respectfully required, and must be postmarked and paid in full by October 3rd, 2011. Tickets are limited, so do not delay in registering! In accordance with custom, registration is limited to those aged fourteen and older.
